I'm so happy to share a sneak peek into the beautiful session into this family's newborn session. He started off wide awake, wanting to know what was going on, and after a good tummy-filling feeding, he went right to sleep. This session was in their home, using window light.

Our session was mostly indoors...

...and unkowingly ended up outdoors on our trampoline! I love everything about this image, the gigantic smile, the rosy cheeks, the sweaty bangs, and even her dirty hand. I can actually still hear her giggles!

I would love this on a huge canvas on one of my studio walls (one day, sigh), because of the happiness it translates.

I'm so excited for my expecting cousin.... she's due any time now. Her maternity portraits were taken about four weeks ago. I look forward to meeting their beautiful baby boy very soon.

I've started to play around with artistic overlays on my photographs. At times, I think it adds to an image, other times, I think images don't need anything else.

It sure has been a while since I've posted anything on my blog. Yes, I've been photographing, I just haven't been blogging. In part, it was because of frustration. I felt that the blog wasn't producing anything for me. I wasn't getting any comments, so I figured no one was reading.... well, to my surprise, I've had about 5 people ask me why I haven't posted anything. And on another side, my plate was overflowing. I had to take something off my plate, and since I figured no one was reading, well, why waste my time. So, I took blogging off my list.
But, the more I think about my business and how I want it to grow, I've decided I need to make some changes. For one, I'll be updating my blog again, wheather it be business or personal. The layout is going to change soon, too.... so stay tuned. Which brings me to say, if you happen to look into the blog, and don't know what's going on, it might be that you've caught me right in the middle of making changes to the design layout.

Hello. It sure has been a while since I've been around here. I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and a wonderful start to a New Year. I thank God for a wonderful time spent with our loved ones.

The whole time, I've been busy with client sessions, online galleries, orders. I'm excited about the new design of my logo. It shouldn't be much longer before it makes it's appearance around here. The designer is still working on it.

And now, I'll share one of the last sessions from last year. It is out of order, but, I've got to start somewhere. It was a beautiful, sunny, cool Saturday afternoon after a very rainy week.

I'm still around... busy editing. I forgot how much post processing goes into photographing a wedding. Over 800 images to sift through.... the hardest part is deciding which ones to leave behind.

So, if I had $2500 just sitting around, I would invest and attend this workshop. http://www.livingthedreamworkshop.com/ Honestly, how I wish I had the money to attend. I really look up to the beautiful work these ladies create. Well actually, I guess I'd need more to cover airfare and the 3 day stay. One day. Perhaps, since today is Wed. I'll buy me a random ticket in Texas Lotto. I've got to play in order to win, right? I don't ask for much, just enough to continue learning to offer even better photography. So many dreams that I hope to realize.

I was honored when my cousin contacted me to photograph her beautiful newborn. And here he is, at a young ten days into life. Welcome to the family little one! We are a majority of female cousins by far, and now that we are in the child bearing years, it's awsome that on the most part, we are all having boys! It's unexplainable.

Wedding bliss

This past Saturday, Joanna , a great friend, and awsome wedding photographer asked me to assist her as a second shooter at a wedding. Luckily, it worked out. And, although I primarily shot with her Canon equipment, I did take my Nikon and took a few. Since she hasn't posted, I won't get ahead. But, I did want to share this one, taken with my camera from up in the choir loft, using only available light.

I did say I was going to post new pics.... and here they are. These are some of the first pics I've taken with my new camera. Goodness, Nikon has some awsome cameras! They were taken indoors, no flash.

Fabian was looking extra good because it was picture day at school. So, we were practicing.

And Esteban was just out of the shower here. He was actually saying 'cheese'. I have never asked them to say cheese while I'm taking pics. I wonder where they got that from. I love that he does the 'th' sound with his tounge.

My, my, my.... I can't believe it's been a whole month since my last post. I am thinking, "and what have I been doing?" I'll list what I can remember:

- I was pulling late nights editing and getting orders out! Happy clients :)
- I celebrated my birthday. Whewww, 31, already? Somehow, I don't feel like what i thought 31 would be like.
-I updated my beloved camera. There is nothing wrong with my starter camera, but after much research and saving, I finally made that step. So now, there are endless sizes to order from. HUGE!
- I have been trying to rethink my business name to create an awsome logo and do all the formal branding. Result: leave the name as is and give it that extra pizzazz. But, I tried on several occassions, and I just wasn't able to come up with anything. So, I took the step this week and contacted an awsome designer who is working on it for me! I am beyond excited.
-Oh yeah, we've been vehicle shopping. That takes a.lot.of.time! Either online or in person. I love my car, it's great, but my husband wants a change.
-He wants a new vehicle. I ~~need~~ want a new house with an indoor laundry room.
- I've had to adapt to Esteban's new climbing adventure. He climbs on anything he can. He'll drag the chair to the counter, to the stove, even to the bedroom to access the dresser. He goes everywhere I go.
- We're going to repaint the kitchen and the living room. The paint has been selected and bought. I'm looking for new courtains, too.
- I am looking forward to a November wedding I'll be photographing. Weddings are so special, and eventhough I think I won't market myself for the wedding market, I think I'll continue to take the smaller celebrations.

I've rambled on and on.... I should end this post with a pic. Let me go though some files and see what i find. I'll post it soon.

I am short of words as to how I begin to describe these adorable portraits of beautiful baby A. I photographed her two brothers earlier this year, a month shy of her arrival. And just 7 months later, just look at how gorgeous she is. And the tutu, B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Her session was a mixture of emotions, as she is teething full force, but patience, comforting, teething tablets, and a tiny piece of smarties did the trick..... and I got it! I can see this portrait printed as a large canvas. One day, when I have my own studio space, I can see this right there on my wall, I really can.

Baby G was just 11 days old in when his first portraits were taken. But, he's putting weight on steadily, so, I'm sure he'll be changing in no time. I see these portraits, and I feel absolutely in awe that I was blessed with the opportunity to see his mommy during her maternity, then during labor, and now his newborn. What a miracle life is, it truly is!

Last Saturday was a busy, fun-filled family Saturday. This particular family and I went to high school together (except for the youngest sister). Seeing everyone as adults and as parents was great. Just imagine, a total of 10 children, most of who are under the age of 5! Yep, it's one busy family!

I've been practicing the natural light techniques a lot more lately. My kids are very energetic and on the go all day, and that's exactly what I want their pictures to be like. I want to have memories of what we did any given day. And at the end of this particular Thursday last week, I couldn't stop thinking of these images. Yes, they were all taken in about a 6 hour time span. I wanted to share them sooner, but I've been blessed with a whole lot of work lately. And yes, today is Sunday, and I have sessions from yesterday to process, but I could no longer resist.

This one of Fabian is so him. It's rare when he'll look into my lens. So, I was thrilled that I at least have one beautiful eye straight on. We were actually playing soldiers, during this particular shot.

Later, when Esteban was napping, Fabian painted.

And later in the evening we were only going to water the plants, but Fabian connected the sprinkler to the waterhose all by himself.

At just 6 days old, here is Serenity Marie, from the birth story in the entry below. She was a wonderful model! Slept soundly, and only woke up towards the end for a feeding. I was trilled to handle such a tiny newborn. I can just barely remember how it felt to carry my sons as ity-bity-newborns.
I love that she gave us a hint of a smile in the one below.Love the puckered lips.So tiny.In Daddy's hands, safe and secure.And most definately, I absolutely LOVE the emotion in the one below. There is a connection that occurs between a new mother and her child. And I can see it right here. It's as if you want to inhale every.single.second that is ticking by.

Hummm, I think I said the word love in too many of these pics... I had the hardest time narrowing it down. And these are just a glimpse of the beautiful results.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the birth of a wonderful baby girl just 2 weeks ago. I recieved 'the phone call' at 5 am.... and off I went to meet the parents in the hospital. As any birth, you never know how long it'll take the baby to arrive, and on this particular Monday it took Miss Serenity about 15 hours! I am so thrilled to have been there with the family as the excitement and contractions grew stronger. The story was set to a DVD slideshow, and I was teary eyed once it all came together. And when the parents saw it, she too cried. It's absolutely amazing that she'll have this forever to look back on. It's a life changing event in a marriage, it truly is.

Busy Summer

Summer has sure been busy at our house. I think the extra sunlight has the boys are all charged up with extra energy. By late afternoon, I've clearly run out of ideas on how to keep the boys entertained so out we go. There's been a lot of getting wet, sprinkler, waterhose, and pool. But it's summer, right!
I've been playing a lot with natural light, (indoors and outdoors) and I'm liking it more and more every time!

I have a whole lot of pictures to share from this past month. Maternity, a whole Birthing Story, and her newborn portraits. Wheewww, that was so inspirational for me.

And just look at my baby Esteban.... no longer a baby.... he's full bloom toddler. Yikes, how time flies!

As I promised.....

While I was in Mexico the second half of our week we were in my parent's hometown of Allende in the State of Nuevo Leon. It's about a 45 minute drive south from Monterrey. I lived there for only 3 months, as a newborn, before my family permanently migrated to Houston. Anyhow, my family travels here a few times during the year, but I hadn't been back for 2 years! These particular pics are all by the river names... Rio Ramos. This particular spot is about a 15 min. drive from the town.

Yes, the town is at the footsteps of the Sierra Madre Mountains. It's so peaceful and calm.

And just as a side note: After taking such beautiful close-ups of such beauty, and two days after being back home in Houston, I realized I had a rash..... Poison Ivy!!!! My right arm must have touched it somewhere while taking one of these pictures. And boy, oh boy, it was a mean one! By far, I think I had the worst breakout I've ever had. Horrible oozzzzing blisters, and the itch! Ahhh, what an ITCH!!!!! For the first 5 days, I had a hard time concentrating on anything besides it. But, I'm happy to report that I am now in the final phase. I'm happily recovering from a nasty chemical burn from the posion ivy cream that I bought. I'm SO SO THANKFUL, that my boys didn't get this, I don't know what I would have done to help them.

This session took place the week after Mother's Day. The girls were took advantage that their mom was here from Monterrey, Mexico. This session was special.... it was great to see how much these two all grown up ladies are still mommy's little girls. There was so much laughter, it made the session go by super quick. Once I began editing, I began thinking that I too would like a session like this.... my mom and all of her 4 little girls.

I've fallen behind on blogging. But I've been busy alright.... I've even been out of the country! I'll share a few pics from Mexico soon... I'm not saying when, but I'll get to it.

These beautiful pics were taken in April. Beautiful bluebonnets. I had never been to the bluebonnets, and it is quite beautiful to see soo many wildflowers bloom with such color.
These are actually right on the side of a road near Columbus, TX. I'm so glad we stopped.

Ten tiny toes, ten tiny fingers, ten tiny days....... This little angel was not bothered at all by the camera. I used only window light to complement her. She's so beautiful. Her mommy & daddy are posted in a maternity session below, titled "Expecting".

Such a delay to blog. Gosh, 2 months have just whizzed by. It's all justified though.... my delay in blogging began with us getting the stomach virus...... one by one until it was out of the house. Talk about mounds of laundry and plenty of disenfecting to take care of..... Then began the coughing.... all of us. A few doctor visits, a visit to Mexico, ..... and then finally, the computer decided it wanted to be serviced too. It took much, much, much longer than what I anticipated. Does anyone know of a reliable computer repair place that has good turn around time?

Last Tuesday, I had a great engagment session with Gloria and Ray. It was great to hear their 'how they met' story...... you just never know who's got their eye on you. I think it was all thanks to his sister, and his cousin's graduation party, and the visit after a car accident, the flowers, and his dads hint. We laughed.... a lot, and it made us so at ease. It was great, thank you. I can't wait to see how beautiful you'll look on your special day next month.

This past weekend, I had my first session of 2009. What a beautiful, tiny baby boy. He just turned an adorable four weeks.

His Mommy wanted to create a portrait that he could grow into. She plans to continue using Daddy's cowboy hat and boots every year until he fits into them. What a nice project.
I love baby feet. They are just so tiny, so perfect.

This past weekend, I was so excited at the oportunity to have a session for little brothers! If you've noticed on the blog, I've had mostly sessions for little girls.

These little boys are adorable. Despite that the younger brother arrived asleep, and big brother was determined not to take any pictures, I used my 'teacher' tactics, and they worked! I look at these portraits and love them! Yaaay for boys!

New Year 2009!

After a quiet New Year at home with our boys, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather the new year had brought.... so we made a day trip to Galveston. We didn't know what to expect after Hurricane Ike. We hadn't been there for over 2 years. Galveston is special to us, since that is where my husband and I first met. This visit was extra special since we now have our children to take back with us. I was so happy to see that Galveston is recovering.

Here we are! This will become a beautiful large canvas print for our livingroom. (It was taken using the self-timer setting on the camera.)

Esteban was a little overwhelmed by the size of the Gulf and wouldn't let go of me or my husband.

Fabian enjoyed playing in the mounds of sand being used to fill the beach.

I love this one of Fabian and Daddy. It feels timeless.

A new year

Hello All! Today is New Year's Eve...... just to think within a few hours, we'll have a brand new year to grow and fill with so many precious memories. Now, that Christmas hecticness is out of the way I've caught myself thinking about some goals for 2009. There are the typical ones, like losing some excess baby weight I've kept and organizing my extra room, which is a total mess. But I also have thought of expanding my photography dreams. What new products I can offer, do I need a website, how much business to I want to take on?
Since I originally left my teaching career to have and raise our family, I do absolutely have them as my priority. But it feels so good when I take portraits of others. I love it when others love what I do.
I've also contemplated a few other things I've been asked to do, such as, ..... slideshows, photo restoration, weddings, and outdoor portraits. And they may well become a part of my business, I just have to figure out how to incorporate and price each thing accordingly. Which speaking of prices, in 2009, I will be adjusting my prices a bit. I must do so to allow for growth. I will post that information soon.
For now, I sincerely wish you a very happy, healthy, and prosperous new year. May we all continue to chase after our dreams!

Merry Christmas

Christmas is just a few days away. I haven't finished shopping, nope, I haven't. I just need a few more things. I keep telling myself, I'll go today, but something always comes up. I haven't even wrapped the gifts I already have.
We took our boys to meet Santa Clause, and Fabian was scared, so we didn't even stand in line. He prefered a bag of popcorn and we watched from far away. I wonder what he might have been thinking. Esteban didn't care any. He was just watching people.

There is something so special this time of year. For one, just the word Christmas changes the season. It's a special word..... I like it when people say Christmas is coming. Maybe it's that we get some time to hang out and talk and be with family. Just in case I don't post again until after Christmas, please be safe, enjoy your families, laugh a lot, take lots of pictures, and be very happy.

Just 6 months, but, isn't she just adorable? Her features are so exquisite. I had a great session this past weekend with Miss A. I truly admire how mom's take the time to have their little girls look just perfect. The shoes, the stockings, the hair, the dress, completely opposite from what I'm used to with my two boys.

Thanksgiving

So, So, So many things to be thankful for..... most of all that in comparison to last years holidays, I now have two healthy, beautiful boys to run after. Thankful for my husband who leaves for work in the weeee hours of the morning without being grumpy or complaining to provide for us. So thankful for my clients, who have trusted in me, I can't believe I waited so long, wondering if others would like the photography that I so much love. I felt so happy as I looked through these beautiful images of Lizet and Cesar. Lizet and I met through the friendship of our older sisters who graduated together. The love in their marriage speaks through actions..... how he held her, how they looked at each other, how she spoke to him..... It feels so good to know that my good friend is so happy and so in love.

Busy Growing

Yes they are growing and growing. Goodness, how time flies. These were taken as an impromptu session, since my 'studio setup' was still up after a session with a client. I'm sure glad I did. Just look at my two gorgeous boys. It's not that simple, but not impossible. I love the end result.... the lasting memories of being almost 3 and almost 8 months in these portraits.

She's turning one and is absolutely GORGEOUS. The pink dress... the grey eyes..... a real beauty. Thank you Gloria, Ray, and Karina for bringing her, I feel so lucky that I was able to capture such a special milestone.

How fast they grow

This past weekend we had a great session with Aryana. She is now 4 months! So many milestones in such a short time. Here is a preview of her unfolding beauty.

Aryana decided she wanted to take a nap. Good thing she wasn't bothered by the flashing, because her nap gave us this beautiful portrait. I love it.

Golden Light... so beautiful. When you look at these pictures, you can feel the warm sun on your own skin. Our God Daughter Chari, and her mom Olga (my best friend) joined us at Discovery Green one Beautiful October Sunday afternoon. It was very very nice.

This picture of Chari, is my absolute favorite. I LOVE it!

Quinceañera

Ahhh, how sweet it is to be fifteen. Brenda had her celebration in April this year. Right at the most beautiful time in a young ladies adolescence. Just in case some of my readers don't understand why we have such a big party for a fifteenth birthday..... A Quinceañera is a tradition in many Hispanic cultures where a big celebration is held to celebrate a young ladies presentation into society.

From these pictures, I was able to create beautiful photo invitations. They turned out super! I'll share those in another post.

This maternity session was done a few months ago. The Chavez family was anxious for the baby's arrival. The hidden surprise was baby Diego, who arrived just 4 days after this session. I hope to take portraits of him soon.

Hello all. This is my official ckeck-in post hurricane Ike. As thousands of others, we stayed, and lost power for 14 days, too long. Thank God our home was not affected by the hurricane.

I am working to get orders delivered.

This post will continue, as I have a jumping baby in my arms.

Been Busy

Hello. This blog starts on a sad note. My uncle, passed away 1 week ago today. We knew it was coming, but that doesn't make things any easier. He's now at peace, no more pain, no more tubes or machines.

And, well, I was asked by my cousins to make the slideshow that would play at the funeral home. What pressure, my first ever slideshow...... I knew I could, ... what a challenge. No, I'm not going to play it. But, I realized, once more, ...... how important pictures are. They show those emotions, of my cousins with their Daddy as babies, at First Communions, Birthdays, Graduations, Weddings, Christmas, and with his grandchildren. These pictures are priceless.

And in the stack of photos, was a family photo taken at my parent's wedding. It's beautiful.... Authentic black and white photo. My parents are on the far left in the wedding dress and suit. And my uncle is the tallest in the picture on the right.

I had the great honor of photographing Norma and Manuel's wedding. The day started off raining, but that didn't spoil the mood. Once it was time for the wedding to begin, the sky had cleared and it was time to celebrate. So many great pictures, I had trouble choosing just a few.

Hermosa is the spanish word for beautiful. And at just 6 months, Giselle is just that, beautiful. She was a natural. She didn't cry through 3 outfit changes plus her birthday suit.
[Hermosa es la palabra en espanol para beautiful. Y a tan solo 6 meses, Giselle es eso, hermosa. Le fue muy natural. No lloro, aun que la haigan cambiado 3 veces mas su traje de cumpleanos.]

This red dress belonged to Giselle's mom, when she was a baby. The red dress looks great at twenty-something years.

My boys

These are our two boys, Fabian and Esteban. They are who I left my teaching career for. I never knew, never even thought, or crossed my mind that I could have feelings of SO MUCH LOVE for these tiny individuals who are growing up way too quick.

Fabian is responsible for having converted the love of hobby photography into a more serious and professional venture. So far, I am loving it. It's far from perfect, but I'm seriously enjoying seeing how it's slowly taking shape into a small business. Plus, I absolutely adore working with babies, toddlers, and children of all ages.

Fabian was my model, while I tested the lights. He's a natural. Oh, and that's the only stuffed animal that is special to him. His name is Buddy.... or as Fabian pronounces it..... Badee.

Last SundayI welcomed into our home my very good friend Cris, and her family. Her baby girl, Ariana, is now five weeks old. Cris and I met a few years ago, as first year elementary teachers. Then, we were both babyless. Now we both celebrate the joy of motherhood. Congratulations on such a wonderful family.

Goodness, I just realized how iky I left this blog. It's so, so, abandoned. I will begin to update the blog and post photos from my sessions. I'll say once a week. I don't want to say I'll post more than once, and then not post at all. .... Always time permitting.... as a toddler and an infant tend to rule my time. I'll post a pic of my handsome boys as soon as i can decide on just one.
